STUDENT OF THE WEEK
Each week we will have a student in the spotlight. That student will make a poster to tell about him/herself. The poster may include such information as hobbies, family members, vacations, friends, and favorite things. He/she can decorate this poster using photographs, drawings, etc. Many kids in the past have included a display of trophies, ribbons, stuffed animals, etc. .. Be creative and enjoy!
Week of October 15 - Khloie
Week of October 22 - Gabbrielle
We have been working on comparing numbers using the greater than, less than, and equal signs. The students also began working on ordering numbers either from least to greatest or greatest to least.
The students have been reading passages about unusual animals from each of the five vertebrate groups. We also saw some short videos of some of them to give us a better idea of what they looked like and even sound like.
We reviewed the characteristics of the five vertebrate groups and learned a bit about invertebrates. Did you know there are way more invertebrates than vertebrates in the world?
The students began learning about the meaning of prayer. We discussed the meaning of the lines in The Lord’s Prayer.
Many of the children are becoming much better writers! We try to write each and every day so we can lead a “Writerly Life.”
Our focus has been on writing in the moment and using a storytellers voice rather than a reporters voice.
We had a great time on the Oregon Trail! We sure lucked out with the weather.
A special thank you to all the parents that came and helped out with this great adventure.
Information will be coming home about October 31st. It is a half day that day don’t forget. Also we will be doing it a bit differently this year so watch for the information!
