Bell Ringer Journal
Students will receive 5-7 minutes at the beginning of class to complete their bell ringer journal. It is imperative that students are in class on time to be able to utilize the entire 5-7 minutes for this assignment. The journal will be due every Monday.
We will continue studying chapter 5: Adjectives and Adverbs. This week students will do the following:
- Identify and use adverbs in writing
- Identify and use the comparative and superlative forms of adjectives and adverbs
- Identify and use commonly confused adjectives and adverbs
Students will receive a handout each day practicing these skills. They will receive time in class to complete their work. Unfinished work must be completed as homework and returned the following school day.
On Thursday (1/18), students will be asked to develop a narrow claim. They will also be asked to provide evidence to support their claim. This work (claim and evidence) is DUE BY: Monday, Jan. 22.
The debatable claim and two pieces of evidence will be formatively assessed to determine if students have progressed in their understanding of evidence and claim.
