We will continue the unit on argumentative paragraph writing. The goal for this unit is for students to write a strong argument paragraph. This week students will do the following:
- Understand that arguments persuade the reader to believe a debatable claim by providing effective evidence and commentary.
- Learn about the two types of evidence in argument pieces: factual and anecdotal.
Americanism Essay and Poster Project
Each year, the Polish Legion of American Veterans asks students in the middle school to write an essay or create a poster titled: "The Meaing of Our Freedom." Students in grades 6-8 will complete this project. Students will receive time in class on Tuesday (11/13) and Friday (11/16) to work on this assignment. They may also work on their project during any "free work time" periods and in Responsibility Room if they choose. The projects are DUE: Monday, December 3.
This week we will finish studying chapter 2 on nouns. Below is a guideline for the week:
Tuesday (11/13): Today's lesson: students will identify and use nouns in prepositional phrases and appositive phrases
Thursday (11/15): Chapter 2 practice test
The chapter 2 test on nouns will be on Tuesday, November 20.
- The 1-page paper on the virtue of the month (perseverance) is DUE: November 30. This may be handwritten or typed.
