We will NOT have a spelling test next week due to the short week and we will be doing some testing.
Reminder…if your child gets ZERO wrong on the Practice Test, they do not have to take the test on Friday! Yay!
We worked on basic concepts of fractions this week. I you have to name a fraction you would say “thirds” or sixths.” If a fraction is in thirds each part is called 1/3 which is a fraction unit.
We have been reading fables in class. The students learned basic characteristics of fables. Ask them to tell you what they are! It was great to hear a couple of students notice that many of the fables we read had a fox as a character. What an interesting observation!
Also…I was so proud of the students for starting to compare characters and events of different stories without even being asked to do this! They are certainly thinking deeply as readers.
Thanks to Miss Gansen we did two great Holy Week projects. One was a 3D last Supper and the other was a Stations of the Cross.
I asked the students to take at least 5 minutes on Good Friday to go through their Stations of the Cross and have a parent jot a little note that they did this.
The students have been working very hard on writing a narrative. They are making sure that they have each element of a narrative and are “cracking open” words in order to show what is happening, not just telling.
We have been working on our new chapter about weather this week. Please make sure they study the guide that went home today.
Our economics unit showed us that agriculture is the business of growing crops and raising animals. Please look for info next week about a special economics project the students will be doing.
