St. John Vianney Catholic School
March 31, 2017
This week has been jam-packed with a lot of fun and learning in Kindergarten! We met Mr. Gooey Gum, Miss Exercise, and Mr. Beautiful Buttons, focused on initial sounds /G/ and /B/, as well as the medial (middle sound – short sound) of /E/. We continue to read books and discuss the Main Idea (What the story is MOSTLY about), and learned how to respond to others’ comments about the Main Idea (“I agree/disagree with ….). We continue to review our sounds and the high-frequency (sight) words we already know. We learned a new game that is helping us with our 2-letter words (by, me, do, so, go etc.). These activities are all giving us the opportunity to slow down and listen (a theme that will take us to the end of the year!)
We continue to work on our counting and also stamping and reviewing our “ot” words.
We continue to measure items throughout the room using non-standard measurement (blocks, cubes, links, etc).
We will be having an Easter Egg Hunt on Thursday, April 13th. What we are asking is for families to help us out with plastic eggs and candy…..We can also use helping hands to help us stuff the eggs….If you would like to get some service hours in by helping us, please let me know! We will be joining the Ages and Stages class for this event!
Thank you to those who have sent in eggs/candy for April 13th….
There will be NO SCHOOL Good Friday, April 14th, nor on Monday, April 17th.
We are planning a “Muffins With Mom” event for May 12t from 8:30 until 10:00. Save the date! Your child may invite 1 special lady in their life for this event. Thank you for your help in not parking on Blair Street!
Thank you to Gabriella and family for sending in some more snacks for us to have on hand when someone forgets to bring a snack in! You have all been so kind! Thank you!
Have a wonderful Spring Break! We will see you on April 10th!
