St. John Vianney Catholic School
May 18, 2018
This week we met some of our final letter people. We met Mr. Z and Mr. X. We have certainly worked on these sounds throughout the year, but these are more focused activities. We have been creating a book of Letter People throughout the year and will bring these home the last day of class!
We continue to learn about and celebrate God’s creatures. We did more “pencil paper” activities to show that we understand the life cycle of the butterfly.
Please continue to help your child become more confident with their skip counting, particularly by 2s. We are working on our confidence with this skill.
We are wrapping up our unit on “how to books” and will end the year with our final unit, “personal expertise”.
In Religion we know that God created us to be happy and to love Him! We also know that Jesus gathered friends, called the Apostles, to help Him here on earth. Jesus calls us to be His Disciples and to share the Good News of God’s love with others.
Fun in the Sun (Friday, June 2) - There will be NO hot lunch served on this day. The older children will be attending the Holy Redeemer Carnival. We would love to order pizza (Hot-n-Readys)on this day in lieu of bringing a cold lunch and have a little “picnic”. We are asking for $2 per child to cover the cost of pizza and juice boxes. After lunch, we will spend the afternoon having a “field day”. If you would like to help us organize activities, please let me know! I am thinking that stations (bubbles, painting, face painting, art, games, pillowcase races, etc) can be set up around the playground. Please let me know if you would like to help out by being in charge of a station! Thank you!
End of the Year Celebration (Tuesday, June 5) - The children should arrive at the normal time (8:20). Our program will begin at 9:30, with a short program/presentation, followed by a small “cookie reception”. The children should come dressed in Sunday Best. We should be finished around 10:30. Summer for the Kindergarten will begin this.
The cost of milk/juice for the rest of the year will be $12.
