St. John Vianney Catholic School
September 8, 2017
We have had a busy, yet wonderful and very productive first two weeks in Kindergarten! The class is working very hard at learning the ins-and-outs of the class as well as getting to know each other!
In Religion we are learning how to pray and are working on our first Unit: God made me! God loves and wants us to be kind and to love Him with all of our hearts!
In Math we are working on our first Topic, the numbers 1-5. In last week’s folder, we sent home a little overview of what we will be working on. Literature connections were made as well as a list of the vocabulary words we will encounter in the unit.
Our tasks in the morning include a sign-in, letter formation practice (intertwined with letter recognition review), and a chance to increase our writing and vocabulary by inviting the children to draw a picture each day and then work with one of us on the spelling of the word. We call these our Special Word Cards. These help strengthen our vocabulary as well as beginning sounds and letter recognition as the children file them each day.
Picture Day will be next Wednesday. Children are invited to dress up, but keep in mind that they will be going outside for resess.
Juice/Milk fee for the month of September is 10.50 (for both snack times). This is paid separately from any drinks or chips they may purchase at lunch. There will also be a salad bar available for purchase at lunch for 1.00.
Book orders are due next Friday. I will close the account on Friday evening. Our class code is DWFHQ.
Have a great weekend! We will see you on Monday!
