St. John Vianney Catholic School
November 16, 2018
This week has been fun as we prepared for Special Person Day this past Wednesday. It was fun practicing songs with the other “basement classes”, making gifts and art for our guests, and having them join us on Wednesday morning. Thank you so much for all that you did to make our time together so much fun!
We continue to work on our letter sounds. Our November vocabulary books are just about complete. We also worked on some November and Thanksgiving themed sight reading books as well as a little booklet about the life cycle of a turkey. We learned that a baby turkey is called a chick and before it gets its adult feathers it is referred to as a poult - interesting stuff:)
Skip counting by 5s has been added to our daily routine. Please continue to count with your Kindergartner each day. We also are working on ordering and comparing numbers. Our patterns are becoming more “tricky” each day as well as we venture beyond simple AB patterns or ones that we can copy. We are smart and independent thinkers, for sure!
In art we created some cute “colorful corn stalks” and in Library we enjoyed a Thanksgiving book and worked on an activity that asked us to place some turkeys in size order.
Book orders were sent home in today’s folder. These are due back by Friday, November 30. If you are placing an order as a Christmas gift, please let me know:)
A letter detailing our classroom baskets which will be auctioned off at our Dinner Auction in February is in today’s folder. The Kindergarten and Ages and Stages groups are combining forces this year to put together a Lego themed basket. Our Auction is our school’s main fundraiser and any help you can give, big or small is appreciated!
Looking Ahead: Wednesday, November 21 - Noon Dismissal
Thursday, November 22 - NO SCHOOL
Friday, November 23 - NO SCHOOL
Tuesday, December 11- Primary Christmas Program - 7:00pm in the Church.
Enjoy the snow! We will see you on Monday!
