St. John Vianney Catholic School
November 21, 2018
This week we met Mr. C and continued our work with Mr. S. We love adding to all of our “abc” charts as we read and write. The letter puzzles are helping us work on fine motor skill as well as sound recognition (There is always one picture that does not work in the puzzle). I am encouraging them to cut glue carefully. A “star” signifies careful work. A smile is a sign for them to be more careful.
We continue to work on comparing, ordering, and telling “how many” with more and more numbers. Our Math tasks now include using Uno cards instead of number cubes as well as filling in missing numbers on a mini-number line each day this week. This is helping us to be able to “count on” from anywhere along the number line. We can do hard things:) We continue to stress listening to the directions. Slowing down and thinking about what is being asked of us is crucial:) Sometimes we like to assume and rush.
We have sent home the emergent readers we worked on this month. They contain a lot of “November vocabulary” and sight words.
We are learning that Jesus is God’s most special gift to us a sign of God’s love. We are also working on some Advent activities to help prepare our hearts for the birth of our Savior.
Thank you to Solomon and family for sending in the very first donation for the Dinner Auction! Woo Hoo!!!
As I mentioned last week, the Kindergarten and Ages and Stages groups are combining forces this year to put together a Lego themed basket. Our Auction is our school’s main fundraiser and any help you can give, big or small is appreciated!
I am extending the deadline for Book Orders to Monday. Orders may also be placed online.
