Please join me on REMIND
Please talk to them about their reading, encourage fluency, help them in whatever capacity is appropriate for your child. The story is introduced on Monday, so the children would have read it only one time. If they are studying the spelling words and understanding their meaning they will be able to apply all of the spelling words we have learned so far. Please write a note to me after you child is done. Talk to me about their experience and what you are noticing. This will be a homework assignment on Tuesday evenings. The books MUST come back the next day.
SHOW AND TELL: During snack time the students will be allowed to "Show and Tell" about something that is special to them.
SHOW AND TELL SCHEDULE:
MONDAY: Ryder, Harmonie, Milas, Graham
TUESDAY: Malay'a, Steele, A'nna
WEDNESDAY: Asia, Nicki, Uzziah
THURSDAY: Amelia, Scarlet, Pai'ton
FRIDAY; Armando, Evelina, Mari
Reading: The reading selection for next week is entitled: The Shopping List. The children will read about what happens when a boy forgets one item on his shopping list. With the help of other customers, the boy eventually remembers what he was supposed to get, but not before his father's store is turned upside down. Skills we will focus on include: cause and effect, context clues, and fluency. We will focus on the long "i" sound and review the short vowel sounds "a, i, o, u." The students will create their own shopping list. They will also write about their favorite food.
Spelling: smile, while, bite, white, hide, wide, who, were, blue, after
Please study nightly!
For an extra challenge: everywhere, shopping, remember
Phonics: We have started learning about the short vowel sound "u". We will work on rhyming words with the short "u" sound, spell with short "u", and review "a, i, u."
Math: In math we will begin learning about place value.
Science: We are studying Antarcica and the mammals that live there. Thank you to the parents who sent in the 1 liter plastic bottles. We will be creating some very "cool" penguins witht them.
Religion: We will talk about giving thanks to God. We will think about how God cares for us. The students will write and illustrate one gift God has given them.
