Please join me on REMIND
Please talk to your child about appropriate classroom behavior. Some students are having a hard time being kind, treating others with respect, and staying quiet so their classmates can work. We have talked about what it means to be polite to others. Some students will be recieving a behavior log to help monitor and document behavior in the classroom, at recess, during specials, and in the lunch room. Students should remember that when they are looking at the face of a classmate they are also looking at the face of Jesus. He is in all of us. Thank you

Reading: Next weeks story is entitled: "Ships". This nonfiction selection teaches the students about all kinds of ships- a sailing ship, an aircraft carrier, and a steam ship. The story leads up to a child playing with his own ship. Some skills we will focus on include: sequencing, compare and contrast, context clues, and the sh, th, and ck sounds. As a fun science experiment the students will make a ship out of tin foil. Next, we will put pennies in the ship. We will count to see how many pennies their ship can hold until it sinks.
Please remember the spelling words for the week are built into our current reading story. The words are stepping stones for each story.
Spelling: The spelling words for next week are: ship, stop, bus, stop, go, fast, map, look, this, one, what.
For an extra challenge: Halloween and October
Extra Challenge words are not required. Some students need an extra challenge. Give them a try!
The pre-test is given on Wednesday and the final test will be given on Friday.
Phonics: In phonics we will continue reviewing consonant sounds.
Math: The students will continue learning about meanings of addition (put together), combine two groups, add on to a group, two parts make a whole, and comparing numbers, we will concentrate on adding with 0-5.
Social Studies: During reading we will think about different modes of transportaion. We will also begin a unit on farming. I would like to plan a field trip to Tiny's Farm in Frankenmuth. This would require parent drivers. If you are available to drive please send me a note on REMIND.
Religion: We will continue learning about Our Church Community. Jesus cares for each of us just as the shepherd cares for his sheep. We follow Jesus when we care for people in our church community.
