Last call to order Christmas cards created by your child! The order will be submitted on Wednesday of this week to our printer. Please send your order in to the office by Wednesday morning if you want your child’s art work to be your Christmas greeting to family and friends. They are forever keepsakes!
As has been our custom once the colder weather has arrived, if girls choose to wear skirts to school, we ask that they wear tights or leggings under the skirts. Tights, leggings, and socks are all to be plain, and dress code colors. Black is also acceptable.
The volleyball team plays Monday night at St. John Fenton – Go Lady Vikings!
Boys basketball season will begin soon! There are sign-up sheets in the office for both the 5/6 grade boys team, and the 7/8 grade team. When the boys sign up, they will be given an emergency call form to fill out, receive their pay-to-play form, and be reminded that they need a current physical on file in the office. We are so excited to have a home gym after all these years without one – as of last year’s basketball season, St. Matthews is the home court for the St. John Vianney Vikings!! And, as the gym at St. Pius is no longer considered regulation for 7/8 grade games, Fr. Firestone has very generously offered to let them host their home games at St. Matts, also.
The St. John Vianney School Committee will meet Monday (Nov. 20) at 5:30 in the library.
Our Running Club is participating in the Turkey Trot at Mott Park on Thanksgiving morning. Many of our families will be there, also. Go SJV Runners!
Two reminders: School will be dismissed at noon on Wednesday this week.
A meeting for the parents of students who will be attending Powers Catholic High School is being held on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at 7:00 in the Auditorium.
Seventh and eighth grades will be taking the ACT Aspire test next week. We have only a 5-day window in which to complete the testing, so I’m praying that they will all be well-rested and healthy for the week!
The week of Thanksgiving is upon us, a time to reflect on all of the goodness that our Creator has shared with us. May you, and all the people you love, be blessed during this season and always.
Please, God, take care of all of the people in our world.
