September 8, 2018 -Feast of the birth of Mary
Hello Parents, guardians and staff of our St John Vianney family,
Peace be with you! I hope each of you is doing well. I want to thank those of you who participated and shared at our parent night. We are off to a great start. I have enjoyed the many opportunities to meet and chat with you. There are a few things to note since the beginning of school.
Our first 10:30 mass of the school year was celebrated this past Thursday. Eighth graders did a wonderful job leading the worship and helping during the handshake of peace. Thursdays at 10:30 will be our regular school mass time and you are invited to attend. There are some variations on that date during the special seasons so keep your eyes on the calendar.
We welcome our new families arriving on Monday, September 10th in our Great Start Readiness Program. Affability is our virtue of the month. You can demonstrate it by being friendly and welcoming to others in our school family whom you do not know. Keep an open heart to be welcoming. Our children are looking at us for examples of the virtue of affability.
There are many opportunities to be active in our family life. If you are looking for a way to volunteer we can use more support on the playground, in the lunchroom and in the media and computer centers. There are opportunities to serve at every grade level. Be sure to ask your child’s teacher how you can help. Intercessions for the physical and spiritual needs of the classroom or school are just as essential too!
If you volunteer in a regular way in the classroom you will need to complete the “Protecting God’s Children “ training online required by our diocese and school. Please complete the Virtus module at the following link https://virtusonline.org/virtus/. Once you do the module please print the completion certificate and submit it to our school office to begin to volunteer.
You can become involved in our athletics as a coach or participate on the Auction committee or School committee or in the PTO. Contact the school office for more details. There are so many great ways to support your school family. We look forward to serving together with you, our St John Vianney school family.
God bless you on this feast of the Birth of Mary, mother of our Lord Jesus Christ. Mary, Mother of Flint, pray for us.
You are in my heart and prayers,
Virtue of the Month: Affability-To be friendly, welcoming and taking time to greet and speak to others
