“Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flows the springs of life” Proverbs 4:23
Dear Parents, staff and families of St John Vianney,
Peace be with you!
I wanted to wait until after the Powers Catholic high School homecoming parade to send the newsletter. It was great to see our families and friends there as well as enjoy the students at Powers. In spite of the rain the event was full of fun, laughter and building new acquaintances. I want to thank our fourth grade student, Abram Lovett for carrying our school banner during the parade. You did a great job, Abram!
This week we will start our school store sales. Students will bring home the information in a white envelop next week. This is a school fundraiser but does not require selling items. When you shop online, our school earns money. Look for the envelope coming home this week for details. On Wednesday, seventh and eighth graders will start their leadership training classes. The class will be offered for three weeks and covers topics like being intentional, mindfulness, decision making and goal setting. We look forward to harnessing the skills our students will gain in these sessions.
Fr. Firestone has challenged the students to a homework competition. He promises that if every student in one or all the grades can bring their homework each day for one week he will buy the class a reward. I think pizza was mentioned! Maybe in the last three weeks of this quarter we will attempt to pick a week and take on his challenge. Stay tuned!
May the Lord Jesus continue to bless and guide each of us as we seek to know, love and serve Him and one another.
Ms. Marshall
