St. John Vianney Catholic School
June 2, 2017
Thursday, June 8th
The 3rd – 5th grades are planning on field day activities in the parking lot from 9:30 – 11:00. If it is sunny, sunscreen would be a good idea! We plan on having several “stations” of games and activities. It is a jean day that day.
We will not have a regular list the last week of school.
The students have been working on a new activity to write at least two reasons why a number from a group does not belong. They are using concepts and vocabulary learned throughout the year to give valid reasons.
The students read the legend of King Arthur this week and the classic folktale, The Mitten. We have been reviewing the elements or characteristics several genres.
The 3rd graders have been learning about the meaning of the Apostles’ Creed. Please help them to listen for this prayer during Sunday Mass.
The students have worked so hard on their narratives! Our focus has been to paint a picture, describe the setting in the introduction, and have the conclusion connect to the introduction.
Mark your calendar. I just read that on August 17th there will be a total solar eclipse. Since we just had a chapter on space, this would be really interesting for the kids to be aware of.
We will be working on various map skills the remainder of the year.
