WE ARE BLESSED!! WE NOT ONLY MET OUR $50,000 GOAL, WE EXCEEDED IT!! People who care about your children donated just over $58,000 to ‘match’ the $50,000 from our Sponsor. That is a total of $108,000 to support our school! The donations will be used for new textbooks, our fine arts program, technology updates, athletic program support, and other assistance needed to continue providing an excellent education to the students that Jesus has led to us. Thank you, God, for our generous SJV Catholic School supporters! They are forever in our prayers of Thanksgiving.
The students have loved the warmer weather this week, and enjoyed some extra minutes on the playground. Spring Fever has hit! Listening to their laughter and happiness while working in my office is so joyful…
The girls are getting so excited about the Daddy-Daughter Dance being help next Saturday, April 21. Be sure to send in your reservation for this special event sponsored by our PTO. They need to know how many to plan for.
While you are filling in that reservation form, please also fill in the registration form for the 2018-19 school year and return it to us. We are ordering books and making plans for the new school year already, and we need to know how many to plan for, also.
A request, please: when dropping your children off in the morning, if you want to watch them walk into the gym door, please park your car to do so. Stopping in the drop-off line holds up the flow of traffic, and cars get backed up out into the street. I appreciate that you want to see them safely into the building, but I’m asking that you do not block traffic to do so. Thank you!
I’m sure you have heard that the Flint Water Pods have closed. Unfortunately, that means that we will no longer have bottles of water available for our students. Miss Gansen and Mr. Simms picked up water from the pods each week and brought it to school for the children, but that can’t happen anymore. The water coolers are still available, so students can bring a water bottle to school to fill from the coolers if you do not want them to drink from the fountains. I am hoping to find a source of bottled water that is reasonable enough that we could keep it on hand for school use. If you know of any place, please let me know.
We participated in the State-Wide Tornado Safety event this past week. Organized by the Governor’s office, people in Michigan were asked to have a tornado drill or tornado safety talk on Wednesday at 1:00 pm. Your children did a great job of getting to the basement of our building quickly, quietly, and in an orderly fashion. I was so proud of them!
There is a Genesee County Catholic Schools Track Meet planned for next month. The students who participated last year had a blast! And, it was a great way for them to meet students from other Catholic Schools in the area. Powers Athletic Director, Brian Sheeran, sent this message: By request, we are adding 4th graders to our 2nd Annual GCCS Track Meet on Saturday, May 5, 2018 starting at 10am. So the meet will consist of 4th – 8th graders. Here is a link to the online registration: https://goo.gl/forms/iumsTjp04DkkqIE73
