St. John Vianney Catholic School
October 26, 2018
The first week of our second quarter together has been BUSY!!
We continue to work on all sounds, but our focus has been on /D/ and /M/.
With our number cube counting and patterning, a smiley face indicates that we provided some assistance or redirection, and a star indicates that the task was completed independently and correctly.
Please continue to send in your child’s Read and Grow “face”. You can see the faces that have already been returned hanging in our classroom.
We are beginning a new writing unit. This unit will focus on labeling and listing which will help to strengthen our sound recognition skills.
Looking ahead….We will be having a Special Person Day for Ages and Stages and Kindergarten on Wednesday, November 14, 9:30-11:00.. We are asking 1 special adult to come and spend the morning with our class. We will be having a “brunch” and ask you to bring in a breakfast item to share.
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held next Thursday (1-3 and 5-7) in the Social Hall located in the basement of the school. Conference request forms can be found in your child’s report card folder and should be returned by Monday.
Next Thursday, dismissal will be at noon. Next Friday, there will be NO SCHOOL.
Please keep in mind the following when looking at your child’s report card
~A “0” means a standard has not been introduced.
~Letter/Sound identification is the number recognized out of 5, 21, or 26.
~A “3” is really what we are looking for as a “4” means that a child exceeds expectations
Have a great weekend! We will see you on Monday!
