St. John Vianney Catholic School
November 17, 2017
This week has been busy with preparations for Special Person Day, meeting Mr. Super Socks, working on our “Math Sentences” and our Weather Observation skills,
“Ss” penmanship papers can also be found in folders. Please send those back sometime next week.
Juice/Milk fee for the month of November will be $8.50. This is for both a morning and afternoon drink choice.
In writing, we have started a unit on labeling and listing. This will help us to be more descriptive writers.
In Reading, we are working on Pattern Books.
As we go through our unit on sounds, we are also working on our fine motor skills, in particular our scissor skills. We are encouraging the children to cut out their puzzle pieces carefully and to wait to glue their puzzle together until they have placed their pieces to make sure the pieces fit! We are working on SLOWING DOWN and doing our best and most careful work!
We did some painted in the style of a United States flag to celebrate Veteran’s Day. This was great fine motor practice as well as “pattern practice”.
In Math, we are forging ahead, but will continue to go back to review the concept of 1 fewer and 2 fewer.
During this month we stressing healthy eating. We are seeing so many creative ways in which you are assisting your children in choosing snack options. We love seeing the fruit, cheese sticks, popcorn, “homemade” lunchables, pretzels, fruit snacks, dry cereal, veggies, etc. Please help us out by sending in snacks that will fuel their brains for learning. Thank you!
We will also be going out each day, weather permitting. Boots, hats, snow pants, etc. are a necessity in Kindergarten:)
Please send in your child’s “Read to Grow” head. The “shirt” portion should come back to school by the end of this quarter, which is the middle of January. Thank you so much for all you do for your child!
