STUDENT OF THE WEEK
Each week we will have a student in the spotlight. That student will make a poster to tell about him/herself. The poster may include such information as hobbies, family members, vacations, friends, and favorite things. He/she can decorate this poster using photographs, drawings, etc. Many kids in the past have included a display of trophies, ribbons, stuffed animals, etc. .. Be creative and enjoy!
Week of September 24 - Serenity
Week of October 1 - Cameran
We began working on writing and reading numbers into the 100,000’s! This can be a very difficult skill so please practice with your child. For example: 362,874. Have your child read the number and/or say a number and have them write it.
The students have been working in their Reading Simple Solutions book. We are concentrating on finding evidence in the text to support their answer.
We worked on an activity to help us determine the variables and how to control them. It was informative as well as fun! We did “Bottle Flipping” and had to first determine that we could only have one variable to find out which made the bottle flip best….was it the size of the bottle, the liquid in the bottle, the amount of liquid in the bottle….???
The students have been learning about the three Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist.
We have also talked about September’s virtue of affability.
Please talk with your child about a few different events in their life that they could write about in a narrative. The narrative can only be about ONE MOMENT in time, not an entire day or entire vacation. The more ideas they have the easier it will be to write several narratives.
Spirit Wear Forms
Please remember to turn in your Spirit Wear Form if you want to order for your child. They are due Sept. 28th.
The students began learning about the pioneers on the Oregon Trail this week!
