We are done with testing for the year! Many of the 3rd graders scored just above the national norms! Yay!
Spelling
Next week will be the last spelling test of the year.
Please work with your child on studying the list words and sentences. Practice tests need to be returned (corrected) on Thursday.
Math
The students have been working on measuring to the nearest ¼ inch. It would really help if you could work with your child at home on ¼ inch.
We are working on a project to utilize our measuring skills. Each student drew a big monster on poster board. They are then going to measure parts of the monster such as length of leg, horns, claws, etc. These are looking really fun and cool!
Please get a box of flash cards so you can work with your child. 5 minutes per night goes a long way!
Thank you for your support!
Reading
The students have been reading The Chalkbox Kid. Since the character in the book created a garden using chalk, the 3rd graders drew their own garden on butcher paper. It has turned out quite lovely!
Religion
The 3rd graders have been learning about the Sacraments of Matrimony and Holy Orders. Deacon Mike taught more about these sacraments during chapel time.
Science
The students are learning the names of the four main types of clouds. They are able to determine what kind of weather each one will bring.
End of year activities
Information will come home soon regarding end of year activities.
