The purpose of St. John Vianney Catholic School is to be a faith-filled community that assists families in raising Christian students who, guided by the Holy Spirit, make a difference in our world as caring and educated people with the knowledge and strength to make responsible decisions.

Please remember to have your child study the list that comes home on Mondays. They need to make corrections on their Practice Test, have it signed and returned on Thursday.
We have been working on writing numbers in a different way. For example, you can write 3,400 as three thousand, four hundred OR thirty-four hundred.
The students have finished reading the book, How To Be Cool in the Third Grade. They have learned done a wonderful job writing their responses about each chapter. We have focused on how the characters react to situations and how they change throughout the chapters and entire book. This book was a great reminder that people should be themselves and it is possible to reconcile with others peacefully.
We focused on finding evidence of a force by noticing if an object moves that is the evidence. The students wrote their first scientific explanation! Just like “real” scientists do all around the world.
The students have been learning about St. Paul and how we can call on the Holy Spirit to guide us in making the right choice. We have also talked about Guardian Angels.
Please talk with your child to help them think of “Moments in Time” that they have had in order to write a personal narrative. We are working on writing about a time in their life and “showing, not telling” what happened.
And yes….if the weather is bad and the children cannot go out to the playground they can bring a toy to play with inside. It will then be kept in the backpack at all times besides recess.
